Education

Private Instruction

I have taught ages kindergarten to adults and am passionate about empowering all who are curious about music.

I currently offer lessons in beginning and intermediate piano, musicianship, and/or in conducting and score study.

Lessons are offered on a weekly basis. To schedule a lesson (either on Zoom or locally in NJ), please contact me using the button below.

Diverse Programming

Diversity in programming is vital for orchestras to stay relevant and engaging and to accurately represent the diverse communities they serve. Yet, it's easy to fall into the trap of programming the same pieces over and over, without exploring the rich and diverse range of works by underrepresented composers.

In DONNE Women in Music’s study of 100 orchestras from 27 countries (July 2021) “Equality and Diversity in Concert Halls: 100 Orchestras Worldwide”, only 11.45% of the scheduled concerts worldwide included compositions by women. 88.55% included solely compositions written by men. One alarming fact is that only 1.11% of the pieces were composed by Black & Asian women and only 2.43% by Black & Asian men.

As a conductor with a passion for championing works by women, non-white, and non-binary composers, I have the knowledge of diverse orchestral repertoire and the logistical know-how to practically program pieces to fit different orchestrations, limited budgets, and particular programming themes.

I am excited to offer consulting services that can help orchestras expand their programming to include a wider range of voices and perspectives.

Whether you're looking to diversify your entire season or just a single concert program, I can offer tailored advice and support to help you select works that are both artistically compelling, socially conscious, and fit within the practical needs of your ensemble.

My services include:

  • personalized consultations

  • repertoire research

  • recommendations based on your orchestra's specific orchestration, budget, and musical goals

Together, we can create programs that are both meaningful and relevant to today's audiences. Join me in taking the necessary steps to promote diversity and inclusion in orchestral music and amplify the voices of underrepresented composers!
